Welcome to the course

Welcome to the Control of Diabetic Retinopathy course. I am Dr Nyawira Mwangi, and we have developed this course together with other educators and technical experts. Over the course, you get a chance to examine many concepts associated with diabetic retinopathy (DR) services. Begin by watching the short video below. As you watch, reflect on the following:

Do you believe DR is an important problem? Why or why not?

What are some of your learning needs regarding DR?

What is the potential for improvement of DR services in your setting?

How to use the course

The course is designed to work with PCs, Macs and tablets like the iPad or Android devices. You can also access it from a smartphone.

You’ll need an internet connection, ideally with broadband for video segments. If you want to study while you’re away from the internet, you can download the resources.

Each module is a complete, step-by-step course, but you have access to all the content, and we’ve added plenty of navigation to make it easy to find what you need.

As you go through the course, think about your context and relate the concepts presented here to your own setting.

Pre-course survey

Before you begin, we recommend you take this short pre-course survey

Reflection points and questions

At the end of several sections we give you some points or questions to reflect on ‘your take’. Do take time to consider these.

Additional resources

Where appropriate we’ve provided ‘additional resources’ as links to related additional materials on the course, offering you the chance to explore a topic in more depth.
