- DR is a sight threatening disease of the retina, which is progressive if appropriate interventions are not instituted
- All people living with diabetes are at risk of diabetic retinopathy
- Control strategies for DR are required at every stage of the disease trajectory
Strategies for early detection (Screening programs) must be developed alongside treatment strategies
