Diabetes and the eye

Diabetic eye disease refers to a group of eye conditions that affect people with diabetes. These eye complications of diabetes include diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema (DME), cataract, and glaucoma.

In this course we will focus on diabetic retinopathy(DR).  The retina is the light-sensitive tissue that lines the back of the eye. Diabetic retinopathy affects the blood vessels within the retina.
